Martha L. Barrón
Martha L. Barrón (pen name Chiquis Barrón) is an author, researcher, and social justice advocate with a background in psychology and more than 25 years of experience in health equity research, behavioral and cultural health, and trauma-informed community engagement. Her work with the University of Arizona's Departments of Gender & Women's Studies, Psychiatry, and Medicine has shaped her interest in examining the cultural forces that contribute to racial, ethnic, and gender disparities.
Through her work and projects, Chiquis amplifies marginalized voices, challenges dominant narratives, and invites the public to engage more deeply with social justice issues through personal reflection and lived experience.
